Trey Strecker is an assistant professor of English and sports studies at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, USA. He is the editor of the scholarly journal NINE: A Journal of Baseball History & Culture and has published two anthologies. Steven P. Gietschier is an associate professor of history at Lindenwood University, USA where he is also university curator at the Margaret Leggat Butler Library. As an archivist and managing editor with The Sporting News , Gietschier managed its research center from 1986 until 2008, wrote the annual "Year in Review" essay in The Baseball Guide , and edited The Complete Baseball Record Book for five years. His articles and reviews have appeared in NINE: A Journal of Baseball History & Culture, The Baseball Research Journal , and the Journal of Sport History . Lifelong Phillies fan Mitchell Nathanson is an associate professor of legal writing at Villanova University School of Law in Villanova, Pennsylvania, USA. John A. Fortunato is a professor at Fordham University in New York, USA in the School of Business, Area of Communication and Media Management. He earned his Ph.D. from Rutgers University. David George Surdam is an associate professor of economics at the University of Northern Iowa, USA. He has published books on the economics of the American Civil War and Major League Baseball during the postwar era.
