Blake Randall had never thought of himself as anything more than an average country boy trying to make it in the big city. Then the aliens showed up and told him he had been chosen to save the world. Or, something like that ... At first he suspects it's an elaborate practical joke, played on him by his little brother. But then he tries to cast the idiots out of a staff meeting, foils a mad bomber, and saves a hundred children from a burning theater. Oh, and women seem to like him. A lot. That's new, too. Before he knows it, Blake's an international celebrity, has an agent, a smoking hot girlfriend, and finds himself a long-shot candidate for Governor of Texas, which, as everybody knows, is a good place to start if you're planning on saving the world. Trouble is the aliens may not have been completely honest about his new-found powers. There's a fair chance his girlfriend's been holding a few things back, as well. And it's getting a little hard to ignore the sinister secret organization keeping tabs on him. By the time he figures out he might be more science experiment than savior, it's too late to stop the campaign. With his two best friends Blake hits the road, trying to stay ahead of the media, and a growing horde of followers, while he tries to figure out what to do with his 'gifts'. Along the way he manages to discover a few truths about himself, women, Texas politics, and the possibility that life on other planets may not be as intelligent as we had hoped.
