Notă biografică

The author is one of those that people refer to as a self-made businessman who went on to serve at the top of international public limited companies. Nevertheless, he always nurtured an ambition to retire early and travel the world with time still to enjoy it. As such he visited every country that existed at the time of his birth bar Afghanistan and Iraq but is in no hurry to complete the task. He has retained his interest in business, politics and current affairs enriched by his travel experiences. Keen on sports of all kinds be it participating or spectating he once said he would watch his country compete even if it were only at tiddlywinks. In due course he specialised in endurance events taking part in the Ironman world championships in Hawaii. He is a chess enthusiast and has represented a number of counties as he has moved around the country. One of the last intake of national servicemen he served in the War Office and proudly recounts the moment he caught a national spying for Russia back in the days of Kim Philby and the infamous five educated at Cambridge. He always enjoyed challenges but never expected to find himself in quite so many dangerous situations that life has thrust upon him. Once responsible for opening a railway station for a small village he has always enjoyed such unlikely undertakings. His first business book was published in 1974 as a young man, but after writing three more such books his career as an author was interrupted by business and family responsibilities. More recently however, like many others, the lock downs over the pandemic gave him the opportunity to write again, but this time in a different genres. Married twice, he has two grown up children, each of whom have two children of their own.
