Dr. Julie Stokes-Thomas was the second child born when her mother JoAnne Stokes delivered each child seven minutes apart. Julie was modest, quiet, and loved to read. She learned a great deal as she grew spiritually. She had three children; one girl and two boys. She did not know precisely how to be a mother. Her work life began when she was in her teens. An injury on the job ended her employment. She spent a year recovering from her injury. She approaches the company about returning to work. The company refused to allow Julie to return to work for fear she would be re-injured. So, feeling rejected by her employer. Julie re-entered community college. She subsequently graduated with an Associate of Arts and went on the acquire a Bachelors, Masters, and PhD in psychology. After receiving her PhD, Julie went to work at a university as a college professor. She remained in the job until se was diagnosed with and treated for cancer. She retired from the university after 18 years of service.
Five long hard years passed. Julie underwent radiation for the cancer. The treatment took a terrible toll on her physically and mentally. Still, three years after fighting the disease, and confined to bed, Julie entered an on-line education program. She was eventually awarded a Masters of Public Health. She is grateful for God taking care of her in every situation, through her Pastor, family, and friends. Her life journey continues.
