This book was an attempt to identify the role of urban local government in environmental management in Bangladesh. The services rendered by the Paurashava, an urban local government authority, ensure a clean and healthy environment. But mismanagement of these services lead to a dreadful life and a threat to the environment. Urban local governments are the front line organizations, which deal with all types of social, political, economic and environmental problems, and they should devise more effective ways to ensure healthy environment. Increased level of management capacity of every Paurashava is a must to that end.
