When the partially clothed body of a young woman is found bludgeoned to death on a swanky Houston golf course, the overwhelming evidence points to her husband, Houston attorney Boone Fitzgerald. One of the few who believe Boone to be innocent is neophyte lawyer Joanna Martinez, step-sister of Leroy Hunt, the assailant.

But Leroy is not satisfied with only murdering Boone's wife. He wants more. He wants Boone decapitated. But when Joanna Martinez-who Leroy has not seen since they were long ago shuffled off to different foster homes-gets in his way, he's after her head too.
