»Writing History: An Endeavour of Construction. Six Chapters on the Historiography of Germany`s Reunification«: All historiography constructs, as an endeavour that builds upon already existing and equally constructed documentation concerning the original events. The authors of such documentation are the first historians steering all subsequent historiography. This issue is demonstrated with regard to the international process leading to the reunification of Germany, on the basis of an extensive study of French, British, American, German and Russian archival material, and numerous interviews with historical actors. The conditions of historiography could be retraced and illustrated in an exemplary way.
