Augustus John Cuthbert Hare (1834 - 1903) was an English writer who also compiled numerous other travel books including "Walks in Rome" and "Wanderings in Spain". This book was first published in 1878, and is being republished now in an affordable, modern edition, complete with a specially commissioned biography of the author.
