A Russian child survives the horrors of WW2 fleeing the invasion of the German Army. Her father joins the Russian resistance only to have suffered enormous casualties as the enemy advances. The young mother has dragged and protected her two small children without food, shelter and help dodging bombs falling from the sky. Eventually becoming a prisoner of the German invasion. Mother and children are shipped to Germany in cattle cars with other captives to do hard labor as all of their able-bodied men were at the front. She meets up with a young Russian captive who provides a helping hand but eventually her strength caves in and she succumbs to the stress and strain. As the Allied forces declare the end of the war the young Russian names himself the children's father together they immigrate to America hoping for a better life. As the girl grows into a beautiful young woman she meets a charming, classy young man who shows her a life she did not know existed. They marry on a spur of the moment while they roam the Big City having dinner at a fancy restaurant located across City Hall. Swept off her feet she is taking his laughing suggestion to get married seriously. It did not take her long to realize there is more horror in life then living through a war.
