What Is Your Church's Personality?: Discovering and Developing the Ministry Style of Your Church

Autor Philip D. Douglass
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 31 mar 2008
Churches differ in their size, structure, and purpose, but they also differ in ministry style. A play-it-safe, old-line traditional downtown church has a different culture from a new startup church plant. They differ in the same way that two people do. And the personality of both the old-line downtown church and the new church plant differ from that of a church on the edge of a university, or a rural church, or a suburban church. This book is intended for ministers and prospective ministers as they consider which type of church service to pursue and for pastoral search committees as they consider which type of minister to call.

Notă biografică

Philip D. Douglass (BA, Washington and Lee University; MDiv, Princeton Theological Seminary; PhD, St. Louis University) is the professor of church planting, growth and renewal at Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri. He joined the faculty in 1986 after fourteen years of pastoring in the Washington, DC, area, where he planted three churches for the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). Since coming to the seminary, he has started two churches and recently ministered for six years as the weekend pastor of a local church where he mentored students while continuing to teach fulltime. He has served twenty-one years on the PCA's Committee on Mission to North America (the church planting agency of the PCA), including five years as chairman, and continues as a member of MNA on the national and presbytery levels. Dr. Douglass is known for taking time to mentor and assist students in clarifying their sense of calling, as well as for encouraging their vision for church planting.
