Where Go the Boats?

Compozitor Valerie Showers Crescenz
en Limba Engleză Sheet music – 7 feb 2008
for SA and pianoThis wonderful poem by Robert Louis Stevenson explores the tender and inquisitive nature of the youthful mind. As a child casts his own miniature boat along the river, he wonders where it will end up, and where other children's boats go. The melody rings of a children's lullaby and the watery accompaniment flows along, just like the river depicted in the poem, which "flows along forever with trees on either hand." Perfect for any children's choir concert in the spring or autumn, this piece can also be useful for children who are just beginning their experiences with harmony. The second voice part builds on the traditional falling third and is very accessible.

Recenzii

This is a delightful simple tune. The melody is as simple as you could hope for; the alto part is not much harder. Robert Louis Steveson's picturesque words are matched by the flowing piano part, which chuckles along like a babbling brook. Most choirs could learn the notes of this in quarter of an hour or so, and it makes for a charming miniature.
