According to midrash recording traditions, it is impossible for anyone to kill a behemoth except for the person who created it. Ray Ramson is the son of a former football star whose career ended prematurely with a horrendous injury. Ray is on track to be even better than his father when he befriends a young cancer patient. In the course of donating bone marrow and trying to help the boy survive, he develops cancer himself. However, his body turns the deadly cancer cells into a mutation that fights sickness and regenerates dying tissue, and, after nearly dying, he comes back stronger than ever, eventually marrying his high school sweetheart and fathering a child of his own.
