Willow was raised on scrapbooks that her mother made of life in Prague before World War 2. But the stories end with the Holocaust and Willow knows little of her mother's life after the war or her own beginnings when Jana landed in Montreal and met Willow's father. Jana move to the Us before Willow was born and she knows nothing about the father she never met except the fairytale-like story spun by her mother. Willow is a loner, an artist and an acclaimed puppeteer whose marionettes have become the family she has missed.
