EDWARD C. MEYER was the youngest Four-Star General to be Chief of Staff of the United States Army. Born and raised in Pennsylvania, he saw combat in Korea and Vietnam and earned the Silver Star and Purple Heart. President Jimmy Carter named him Chief of Staff in 1979. Meyer retired from the Army in 1983 and resides in Arlington, Virginia, where he serves on the boards of several major corporations.R. MANNING ANCELL was born and raised in the Southwest, the son of an Army Air Corps fighter pilot. He has been a disc jockey, radio and television reporter, and magazine publisher. He served as lieutenant commander in the U.S. Naval Reserve. Currently, he resides in Hershey, Pennsylvania and writes full time.JANE MAHAFFEY was raised in New Mexico. She is the widow of General Fred K. Mahaffey. A veteran journalist and columnist specializing in commercial space, she lives in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
