Will to Power and the Modern State in Nietzsche

Autor Yao Germain Yao
en Limba Engleză Paperback – iun 2022
The modern State is very often presented as the instrument that allows men to escape from barbarism, from savagery. Hegel in this logic sees in the modern State the rational in itself. But this Hegelian vision is very quickly contested by Nietzsche (1844-1900). He denounces in this modern institution its monstrous character. This monstrosity consists in extinguishing in man his will to power. Thus man loses his natural vitality by becoming a weak, mediocre being. He can no longer assert himself. This weakness makes him a slave at the service of the state monster. By attacking the modern state, Nietzsche reveals the mediocre character of modern civilization. This one, instead of pretending to make of the man a superman, has only maintained the human being at the stage of last man. This one, dumbed down by the lies of the state modernity, becomes a worshipper of idols with feet of clay. Through his philosophy of the will to power, Nietzsche seeks to heal the sick man. This healing goes first of all through the overthrow of the false values manufactured by the modern State. Then, man, for his happiness, must assert his will to power.
