Lee Bennett Hopkins is a distinguished poet, writer, and anthologist. His poetry anthologies include Side by Side: Poems to Read Together, Song and Dance, School Supplies: A Book of Poems, and most recently My America: A Poetry Atlas of the United States. This book is the third in his acclaimed poetry series that includes Marvelous Math: A Book of Poems and Spectacular Science: A Book of Poems. Mr. Hopkins's numerous awards include the University of Southern Mississippi Medallion for "lasting contributions to children's literature" and both the Christopher Award and a Golden Kite Award for his poetry autobiography entitled Been to Yesterdays: Poems of a Life. He lives in Westchester County and Greenwich Village in New York.
