Words Of Wisdom

Autor Wayne Carman Baker
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 28 mar 2018
Words of Wisdom was proposed by the publisher as a title, and it seems appropriate as lately, I have had no trouble expounding my theories concerning politics, society, moral values, and life in general. Although this book could be considered as part 2 of my memoirs, spanning my age from thirty-five to fifty-nine, it is far more than a simple chronological statement of life incidents. No topic is safe from my scrutiny and sometimes biased point of view. I began writing this book the same day that part 1 was submitted to the publisher, but the outline was prepared during the long flight to Japan. More details were added nightly as I sat in hotel lobbies, struggling to put my thoughts onto paper. By the time we returned, twelve days later, the project was complete except for several hundred hours spent filling in the details. Within the pages, I hope that the reader will gain some expert advice from someone who has lived a full life, not without hitting a few speed bumps along the way. Hopefully, they will learn from my mistakes, especially involving alcohol and prescription drugs. Compared to my first book, which was painful and difficult to prepare, this one has been a breeze.

Notă biografică

Wayne Baker lives in Bolton, Ontario, with his wife of forty-five years. A committed educator for his whole adult life, Wayne has also been a talented athlete and remains an adventurous traveller. In fact, he says, "This book was roughed out in airplanes, hotel lobbies, African tents, and park benches in Paris." Now nearing age seventy, he credits a recent resurgence in his overall sense of health and well being, and the "realization that my four sons are adults, no longer needing my assistance and advice," as the impetus for beginning his memoir. (As for his sons' attempts to reverse their roles and take care of him, he says dryly, "It has not gone very well so far.") Wayne would like his book to inspire others to take up the pen (or keyboard). "Everyone has a story worth telling," he insists. "Start now."...
