Part III discusses major issues and trends in world tourism cities including resident well-being and quality of life, sustainability, smart tourism, crises, and the rise of tourism in Asian cities, and the final part identifies the future opportunities for city tourism.

Written in a student friendly tone, the book is richly illustrated and contains several engaging features including Sweet Tweets (snippets of information on cities) and Short Breaks (detailed case studies on cities). This will be essential reading for all Tourism students.

Notă biografică

Alastair M. Morrison, PhD, is Research Professor in Marketing, Events and Tourism at the Greenwich Business School, University of Greenwich. Formerly, he was Distinguished Professor at Purdue University, USA, specialising in the area of tourism and hospitality marketing. He has published approximately 300 academic articles and conference proceedings and is the author of six books on tourism marketing and development. Prof. Morrison is the co-editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Tourism Cities and co-editor of the Routledge Handbook of Tourism Cities.
Cristina Maxim, PhD, is Senior Lecturer in Tourism at the University of West London. Her research interests are focused on destination management, cities, sustainability, tourism planning and management, regional development and local government. She has published a number of academic papers on urban tourism, including a recent article in Current Issues in Tourism on the challenges faced by world tourism cities, and has contributed a chapter to the Routledge Handbook of Tourism Cities titled “Challenges of world tourism cities: London, Singapore and Dubai”.
