Wormley Dunbar

Autor Wabbes, Marie Ferran Traducere de de Moubray, Caroline Sunderland
en Limba Engleză Paperback
Between industry and tradition, Wormley is the designer of a happy America. This book, just translated into English, was the first study in French on Edward J Wormley, to be published. The designer who lived in New York worked since the 1930s for the Dunbar company based in Berne, Indiana. Dunbar's name has almost supplanted the artist's name through the use of very beautiful and bold brand-driven advertising campaigns. With this book, take a dive into the Mad Men universe. Travel in the era and the commercial process of models. Archival footage takes us through a prosperous, happy and conquering post-war America. The objects designed by Wormley were selected several times for the Good Design exhibitions at the MoMa organized by Edgar Kaufmann Jr., the sponsor of the House on the Frank Lloyd Wright Waterfall. The only book currently available on Wormley, this study focus on the distribution of Wormley's furniture in Europe by the Belgian designer Jules Wabbes, who organized the furnishing of the United States Embassy in The Hague built by Marcel Breuer. A reference book for vintage lovers composed of unpublished archives, original photographs and images of old catalogs. 120 Pages, 100 black and white illustrations, 14-color illustrations. Bibliography. Index.
