You Had Me at Go to Hell

Autor Robert Kocur
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 24 oct 2021
What if you suffered a spinal cord injury during a flag football game and your tackler was an Amish man with possible underworld connections? While adjusting to your plight, would it be wise to become romantically involved with a Jewish phlebotomist who might be a serial killer? When your sister finds out about your injury, will she attempt a prison escape after doing time for vehicular manslaughter in the death of her boyfriend who drove an ice cream truck? Would your father actively participate in his own intervention after it's discovered that he has been a member of so many twelve-step programs, that he is now become addicted to twelve-step programs? And upon leaving rehab, will you move into an independent living center which in reality, may be a Section 8 survivalist camp? Buckle up and prepare yourself for the ride of your life, one with no guardrails or safety instructions. The author forces you to look at people with disabilities and everyone else for that matter, in a new and hilarious light. Inspired by the writings of Mark Leyner, You Had Me at Go to Hell is radioactive humor/satire and a must read!

Rob Kocur is a full-time wheelchair user who spent his first twenty one years in Douglassville, PA. In 1983, he continued his education at the Edinboro University of PA where he graduated Summa Cum Laude and was twice nominated for a Rhodes Scholarship. He earned a BA degree in Psychology and a MA degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. In 1986, he became a member of the U.S. wheelchair table tennis team, competing in tournaments the world over, including the Paralympics in Seoul and Barcelona. In 2001, he founded the United We Stand Theater Troupe whose mission was to encourage people with disabilities and other minorities to take an active role in theater. Since 1996, Rob has been a freelance writer, getting published in numerous magazines and having his own column in the Erie Times. In 2013, he published his autobiography, The Long Journey Home.

Today, Rob lives in Erie, PA with his fiancée and his inspiration, Cathy. He fundraises for animal shelters, coordinates recreational activities for people with disabilities, and serves as Board President for Kaleidascope, a nonprofit that provides services for people on the Autism spectrum. He is also active in his church, serving as greeter and lector. Rob loves casinos, jigsaw puzzles, four-legged friends, macadamia nuts, and twisted, wicked satire.

And none of what he has accomplished would be possible without the power of God.
