KEVIN HAINES is Lecturer in Applied Social Studies at the University of Wales, Swansea, where he is responsible for teaching about youth justice and criminal justice management. He has a longstanding interest in youth justice and is a member of the committee of the National Association for Youth Justice. He is the author of Understanding Modern Juvenile Justice.MARK DRAKEFORD is a lecturer in the School of Social and Administrative Studies, University of Wales, Cardiff, where he has particular interests in social welfare systems and young people. He has been a practitioner in the Juvenile and Youth Court systems in Wales and England for more than twenty years, having worked in the probation service and in intermediate treatment.
