"Fragile Stories - The Development of Ceramics" presents the diverse and important ceramics collections of the Hessen-Kassel museum landscape for the first time in one volume. About 70 selected objects are used to tell the story of ceramic and porcelain production from prehistory and early history through East Asian ceramics to the present day. The focus is on the technical development of ceramics, but the selected objects also inspire enthusiasm for topics such as trade and taste, collection histories and technology transfer. In addition to the well-known, world-class collection highlights such as the Katzenelnbog lidded bowl, some of the ceramics are being published here for the first time.
