In diesem Sinn erproben die Beitrge des Bandes ein doing theory als Navigieren in pdagogischen Mglichkeitsrumen - unter den Ma gaben der Problematisierung und Irritation pdagogischer Selbstverstndlichkeiten.
What makes an issue or a situation a matter of education? Modern education has been confronted with this challenge since its inception. As Rousseau, for instance, pointed out: Children are not to be viewed as 'soon-to-be adults'; instead, their alterity should be considered and acknowledged. This is why educational theory is confronted with uncertainty and confusion. One can know a great deal about education yet still fail to see what is the right thing to do in a particular situation. Education becomes a matter of "Zwischenwelten" a movement in-between different worlds or states of intermediateness.
However, if it is adequate to say that the progression of modernity deepens the experience of uncertainty and groundlessness, then it might be appropriate to exercise theory "in-between" and to analyze educational practice in this mode. The contributions to this book explore the spaces of educational possibility and problematize what is usually taken for granted in educational matters.
