Autor Olaf Köndgen
en Limba Engleză Hardback – 8 dec 2021
In A Bibliography of Islamic Criminal Law Olaf Köndgen offers the most extensive bibliography on Islamic criminal law ever compiled. Drawing on a multitude of sources online and offline A Bibliography of Islamic Criminal Law covers, in its thematic section, not only the classical crime categories of ḥudūd, qiṣāṣ and taʿzīr but also a large number of newly emerging and related fields. In a second section dedicated to countries and eras, Köndgen comprehensively covers the historical and modern application of Islamic criminal law in all its forms. Unlocking the richness of this sub-field of Islamic law with the help of two detailed indices, this innovative reference work is highly relevant for all those researching Islamic law in general and the application of Islamic criminal law over time in particular.

Recenzii

"Olaf Köndgen’s Bibliography of Islamic Criminal Law will become an essential and indeed indispensable resource for researchers, students and scholars because there is no other bibliography on Islamic law that is more comprehensive, exhaustive, and, for want of a better word, user-friendly."
Martin Lau, in Yearbook of Islamic and Middle Eastern Law Online, Volume 21 (2019), 235-237.
Online Publication Date 17 Aug 2022, doi:10.1163/22112987-12340023.

"Olaf Köndgen's A Bibliography of Islamic Criminal Law is remarkably comprehensive, inclusive and committed. It highlights the progress experienced by research in the field during the last decade. The very fact that such a significant number of titles could be gathered together and given a meaningful classification amply illustrates that process. Köndgen provides an essential tool for interested scholars and thereby paves the way for further development and study of Islamic Criminal law."
Delfina Serrano, ILC, CSIC, Madrid (Spain)

"Olaf Köndgen has produced an ambitious and (almost) complete bibliography of Islamic criminal law, listing publications from the early 19th century until now. This bibliography is unique in its size... a monumental academic achievement... an indispensable tool for research on Islamic criminal law."
Pavel Pavlovitch, Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski (Bulgaria), in Al-Qanṭara, Volume 43, No. 1 (2022).

"As the volume of publications on every aspect of Islamic law grows, with contributions worldwide and in many languages, it becomes harder and harder to separate what is relevant and reliable from all the rest – this even for the specialist. Olaf Köndgen’s scrupulously assembled work will go far to meet the needs of all interested in Islamic criminal law, whether scholars, students, or researchers."
Frank E. Vogel, Harvard Law School (retired)

"As the largest bibliography ever compiled in the field of Islamic law, Köndgen’s Bibliography of Islamic Criminal Law is unmatched. It is highly recommended as an indispensable part of every academic library and the Islamic criminal law student’s key reference work."
Rudolph Peters, Professor emeritus of Islamic law, University of Amsterdam
