Recenzii
A clearly written introduction to epistemology through its history, this should be helpful indeed to students first encountering the great historical figures, such as Descartes and Hume. Students should be challenged to test the proposed interpretations against their own readings of the great texts. The interpretations proposed are sharp and insightful enough to fruitfully engage the beginning student, and to lead them properly to the contemporary cutting edge.
Ali Hasan's Critical Introduction to the Epistemology of Perception combines many virtues-including clarity, readability, balance, and careful scholarship. It quite comprehensively explores the nature of perception, situates it in general epistemology, and introduces the reader to wide-ranging contemporary literature. In the space of barely 150 pages it contributes to both the understanding of perception and the capacity to comprehend contemporary and historically important writings concerning it.
