Recenzii
The authors of A New History of Spanish Writing have formulated a coherent well-written, and intriguing introduction to Spanish writing of the past sixty years that covers much critical and ideological ground ... the thematic approach offers useful information and even affords compelling reading (a trait generally absent from standard literary histories).
An important and very useful addition to undergraduate reading lists, professionals working in the field also have much to learn from this book.
The balancing act performed by the authors is admirable: they have managed to address traditional literary historical categories, tremendismo, social realism, and so forth, but simultaneously to show their limitations; they have given due attention to the famous without disregarding those who have not attained canonical status thus far.
It is refreshing to read a literary history that does not weigh more in kilos than it does in importance.
A coherent overview of the turbulent and challenging conditions in which Spanish writers have managed to publish.
An admirable work, historically grounded, competently written, and containing perceptive analyses of the many Spanish writers present in its pages ... A New History of Spanish Writing clearly demonstrates the breadth and effervescence of Spanish literary culture and makes an important contribution to literary studies.
