Across the Dead Line

Autor J. L. Fredrick
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 6 aug 2002
Book One of the Legends Series: The story is built around the legend of a mining ghost town and spans more than a century with stirring mystery and thrilling adventure. Cory Brockway arrives in the small college town of Wellington two weeks before the fall semester begins. He finds himself deeply intrigued with a local legend that appears to have been distorted by outlandish assumptions and eccentric misinformation. But one thing is certain: the nearby ghost town, Silver Spring, is haunted. Cory is witness to the bizarre, ghostly aura guarding its mystifying secrets, and he is lured into a collision course with the past. An unexplainable supremecy compels him to seek out the truth. With help from his new best friend, Buck Paxton, he discovers staggering evidence that could destroy the reputation of a prominent local figure, and could ruin his own academic success as well. Cory and Buck jeopardize their own safety to uncover the vaguely recorded and unrecorded history, bit by mysterious bit. What they discover produces a tangled mind game, and the results could prove deadly.

Notă biografică

Born into a farm family in the late 1940s, J.L. Fredrick lived his youth in rural Western Wisconsin, a modest but comfortable life not far from the Mississippi River. His father was a farmer, and his mother, an elementary school teacher. He attended a one-room country school for his first seven years of education. Wisconsin has been home all his life, with exception of a few years in Minnesota and Florida. After college in La Crosse, Wisconsin and a stint with Uncle Sam during the Viet Nam era, the next few years were unsettled as he explored and experimented with life's options. He entered into the transportation industry in 1975 where he remained until retirement in 2012 Since 2001 he has thirteen published novels to his credit, and one non-fiction history volume, Rivers, Roads, & Rails. He was a featured author during Grand Excursion 2004. J.L. Fredrick is currently exploring the U.S. in an RV.
