Advanced Course in Yogi Philosophy: What Can It Teach Us?

Autor Yogi Ramacharaka
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 3 iul 2008
New Thought proponents at the turn of the 20th century sought to use mysticism to unleash the forces of the universe in themselves. One of the most influential thinkers of this early New Age philosophy promises here, in this 1904 book, to show the reader to see with the clear vision of the Spirit and how to achieve the peace of the awakened and conscious soul. As the yogi reminds us, No occult teaching is ever wasted-all bears fruit in its own good time. With this significant document of the New Thought movement back in print, now may be the time. American writer WILLIAM WALKER ATKINSON (1862-1932) was editor of the popular magazine New Thought from 1901 to 1905, and editor of the journal Advanced Thought from 1916 to 1919. He authored dozens of New Thought books under numerous pseudonyms, some of which are likely still unknown today, including Yogi Ramacharaka and Theron Q. Dumont.

Recenzii

In Advanced Course Yogi Ramacharaka provides the most straightforward explanation of the paths of Karma, Gnani, and Bhakti Yoga that I have encountered. And he provides a beautiful framework for understanding the concept of Dharma. This is the kind of book that one can turn to again and again as a source for both introspection and action in the world. The physical book of this new edition is very well designed and a pleasure to hold. David Rogers, Yogi, International Yoga Instructor
As with its companion title Fourteen Lessons, Advanced Course in Yogi Philosophy is full of wisdom and insights for living an intentional life. Remarkably, these lessons are still relevant in the 21st century, even though they were written 120 years ago. Michael Gansrow, Co-Founder Massage on the Go, Wellness Expert, Author

Notă biografică

Yogi Ramacharaka is the pen name of spiritualist author William Walker Atkinson (1862-1932) and probably a mystery collaborator well versed in Indian philosophy (to whom Atkinson himself actually attributed the books). The two of them published a series of books at the beginning of the 20th century with the purpose of demystifying Eastern philosophy for a Western audience. The first book, Fourteen Lessons in Yogi Philosophy and Oriental Occultism, became an instant success and has been in print ever since. Atkinson was an attorney, author, publisher, businessman, and a leading figure in the New Thought Movement that studied ancient wisdom and Eastern philosophy. He wrote over a hundred books during the last thirty years of his life. In the foreword of this new edition from Bamboo Leaf Press, yoga teacher and writer Richard Rosen discusses the extraordinary work of Atkinson and explores the mystery and identity of his alleged collaborator.
