Academic and PostgraduateNotă biografică
Amogelang Sylvester Bolokang (M-Tech) Metallurgical Engineering, (PhD) Physics, is a Principal Researcher at the Council of Scientific Industrial Research (CSIR), Adjunct Professor at the University of the Western Cape and Associate Professor University of the Free State. He works with titanium and titanium alloys within Advanced Materials Engineering.
Sylvester’s research areas are: High temperature alloys, non-ferrous and ferrous alloys (metal casting), composites, sensing and hard materials. He works in collaboration with modelling departments to validate innovations in materials product development. His interest is in microstructure, mechanical properties, crystallography and phase transformations of metals and alloys.
Maria Ntsoaki Mathabathe (PhD) Metallurgical Engineering, is a Senior Researcher based at the Council of Scientific Industrial Research (CSIR) in the Department of Materials Science and Manufacturing within Advanced Materials Engineering. She is working on advanced γ−TiAl high-temperature-based materials project sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and National Research Foundation (NRF), in collaboration with the CSIR.
Maria’s research areas are: physical metallurgy, including oxidation and corrosion at high temperatures. In a spectrum, her research activities are a configuration of processing-structure-properties and performance relationship. Accordingly, manipulation of materials processing parameters through alloying, casting, texture analysis, laser cladding and thermomechanical processing is evident in her research. Lastly, her interests are in the crystallography of phase domains as well as the machining and development of high-temperature advanced materials such as γ-TiAl, Ti and its alloys, NiAl based alloys, Al and their composites and Ferrous alloys.
