Agonistes comprises a collection of essays in honour of Denis O’Brien by his friends and colleagues. It represents the full range of his scholarly interests in the field of ancient philosophy, from the Presocratics, through Plato, Aristotle and Hellenistic philosophy, Plotinus and Neoplatonism. The contributions comprise a significant representation of the most distinguished scholars and represent the wide influence that Denis O’Brien has had on his contemporaries.
