Recenzii
An Introduction to Bach Studies is a book that any serious student of Bach will want to own.
Pound for pound and dollar for dollar, this volume can't be beaten as a guide to the literature and as a blueprint for future scholarly work on Bach. I just wonder how we have got along without it for so long.
this volume is an even-handed, concise report on the current state of research on its subject.
The book is comprehensive without being overwhelming.
This wonderful little book may be the first guide to the literature on a single composer and his music to become an instant classic. Why? ... because it is a smart concept with a user-friendly design. Thanks to Daniel Rl Melamed, Michael Marissen and Oxford University Press, the bibliographically challenged among us can now negotiate the formidable thicket of Bach scholarship with ease.
