Analyzing Prayer: Theological and Philosophical Essays: Oxford Studies in Analytic Theology

Editat de Oliver D. Crisp, James M. Arcadi, Jordan Wessling
en Limba Engleză Hardback – 13 iul 2022
Analyzing Prayer draws together a range of theologians and philosophers to deal with different approaches to prayer as a Christian practice. The essays included deal with issues pertaining to petitionary prayer, prayer as reorientation of oneself in the presence of God, prayer by those who do not believe, liturgical prayer, mystical prayer, whether God prays, the interrelation between prayer and various forms of knowledge, theologizing as a form of prayer, lament and prayer, prayer and God's presence, and even prayer and the meaning of life. The volume contains cutting-edge studies on a neglected topic of theological study that contributes to the broadening of themes tackled by analytic theology.

Recenzii

This volume (Analyzing Prayer) therefore constitutes a deepening of analytic theology's theological breadth and depth, and covers useful ground with separate chapters on intercession, lament, prayer's relationship to dogmatics, God's prayer, and other significant topics.
This book is valuable because it offers reflection on the Christian life as actually experienced.
Readers unfamiliar with analytic philosophy and theology will be pleasantly surprised by the efforts of the authors to write clearly and accessibly,...all who read this anthology should find something here to enrich their understanding and practice of prayer.
Crisp, Arcadi, and Wessling, to my mind, prove here that 'analyzing prayer' is a worthwhile venture, and I welcome similar ventures in the future.
