Anterior Knee Pain and Patellar Instability

Editat de Vicente Sanchis-Alfonso
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 4 mai 2017
A multitude of leading international authorities provide fresh insights and approaches for patient evaluation and treatment of Anterior knee pain syndrome and patellofemoral
instability. Included are new chapters featuring clinical cases and detailed descriptions of the most important surgical techniques used for the knee extensor mechanism, each being described by the surgeon who developed it. The book is divided in four sections, the first section focuses on the etiopathogenic bases, the second section focuses on emerging
technologies, the third section includes difficult clinical cases studied, and the fourth section provides a description of the most important surgical techniques for the knee extensor mechanism.

Textul de pe ultima copertă

As this work is published, at the beginning of the 21st Century, a new perspective of the classic orthopedic enigma of the patellofemoral pain problem is becoming increasingly accepted. It is clear that the decades-old paradigm of a pure structural and biomechanical explanation for the genesis of patellofemoral pain is inadequate, and that a new era has begun with biological factors now being given more consideration.
This book is organized into sections which have been reformatted from the first edition. Unlike other publications, this work gives great importance to the etiopathogeny; the latest theories are presented regarding the pathogeny of anterior knee pain and patellar instability, although in an eminently clinical and practical manner.
With contributions from orthopedic surgeons, physiotherapists, radiologists, biologists, pathologists, bioengineers, and plastic surgeons this multidisciplinary book will serve as an authoritative reference on one of the most problematic entities currently in the pathology of the knee.

Caracteristici

Highly expanded edition of the only title to review anterior knee pain and correlate it with functional information on patient management for treatment Includes information on the etiopathogenesis of anterior knee pain and patellar instability, emerging technologies in evaluating patellofemoral joint Features computational modelling and kinetic and kinematic analyses, patellofemoral osteoarthritis and the psychological factors of pain Includes supplementary material: sn.pub/extras

Notă biografică

Vicente Sanchis-Alfonso, M.D., Ph.D., is a prominent knee surgeon from Valencia, Spain. He is a member of the International Patellofemoral Study Group and is highly respected for his contribution to the field of patellofemoral pathology. He has extensive research work on patellofemoral joint disorders in both anterior knee pain and patellar instability. He has over 100 publications and has been an editor of 7 books on knee surgery. In 2011, he published the second edition of the book Anterior Knee Pain and Patellar Instability with Springer London. Since 2002, he has given over 100 lectures on knee surgery at major international and national conferences. Since 2016, he has had a special interest in finite element technology to optimize surgical treatment of lateral patellar instability. Currently, he is studying resting state connectivity in patients with anterior knee pain and the value of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation for treating selective cases ofanterior knee pain.
Dr. Sanchis-Alfonso is internationally well-known for his expertise in anterior knee pain. He is reviewer of KSSTA (Official Clinical Journal of ESSKA), American Journal of Sports MedicineThe Journal of Knee SurgeryThe KneeSports & HealthPLOS ONE, and Annals of Joint. As a referral orthopedic surgeon for patellofemoral conditions, he has extensive experience in revision surgery of the patellofemoral joint. He also participates in surgeon-to-surgeon programs on patellofemoral surgery. He received the Patellofemoral Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award during the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons Annual Meeting in San Diego in 2017.
