Notă biografică
Professor Christina Hong, PhD, is President of the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong. She has a strong background in educational management and leadership with an emphasis on organizational change management, curriculum transformation, technology enhanced learning, and teacher praxis across the school, VET and higher education sectors. Christina’s prior positions include senior executive roles in the Technical and Further Education and university sectors in Australia as well as national educational reform and leadership roles in New Zealand. She is particularly interested in how tertiary institutions can foster C21st employability skills, the dynamic of innovation ecosystems, and collaboration through internationalization and applied research activities.
Dr Will W. K. Ma is the Head of Learning Commons, Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong. His responsibilities include providing physical space, information technology facilities,printed and online learning resources for staff and students to support research, teaching and learning. He is also the champion to staff development, especially in technology enhanced learning and teaching. Dr. Ma’s research focuses on the use of information systems for communication, knowledge sharing and knowledge creation. He has published in various journals, including Computers in Human Behavior, Journal of Computer Assisted Learning, International Journal of Communications, Law, and Policy, and Information & Management. He has served as Co-editor of the Journal of Communication and Education; and as Editor of Cogent Social Sciences.

This edited volume sets the stage for discussion on Education 4.0, with a focus on applied degree education and the future of work. Education 4.0 refers to the shifts in the education sector in response to Industry 4.0 where digital transformation is impacting the ways in which the world of work and our everyday lives are becoming increasingly automated. In the applied degree sector, significant change and transformation is occurring as leaders, educators and partners evolve smart campus environments to include blended learning, artificial intelligence, data analytics, BYOD devices, process automation and engage in curriculum renewal for and with industries and professions.
