Notă biografică
Mathias Piana graduated from Augsburg University in the History of Arts, Archaeology and Medieval History and is an independent architectural historian and archaeologist, focusing on the medieval fortification architecture of the Eastern Mediterranean. He has surveyed and excavated at different Crusader period sites in the Levant and has edited a major work on the castles and towns of the Crusader period. At present, he is engaged in a project to establish a database of the fortified sites of the Crusader era. Christer Carlsson is a medieval archaeologist who received his PhD from the University of Southern Denmark in 2010 and has published on historical and archaeological approaches to the Military Religious Orders in medieval Scandinavia. He is currently working on research excavations and also holds a position as a Project Officer in an Archaeological consultancy company.
