Between Worlds 2

Autor Lori Wolf-Heffner Editat de Susan Fish
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 12 mar 2019
Empathy is harder than it looks. After forgetting her tap shoes at her first class in a new dance studio, Juliana worries she's missed her only chance at making friends. Distraught, she tells her dad how she's feeling. When he ignorantly dismisses her concern as always, the years of absence his truck driving has caused come crashing down on them, threatening to destroy any desire Juliana has of forgiving her father. Expecting to find solace in Opa, Juliana is shocked when her grandfather takes Dad's side: to Opa, Juliana's dad is worlds better than Georg, a cousin long passed, who couldn't support his family. But Juliana soon suspects that Opa doesn't know everything. A year has passed since the war ended, and Georg is still a shell of a human being. He says very little and succumbs to inexplicable fits. Everyone ridicules him, and even Elisabeth is frightened of him. But when she has to help with wedding preparations for one of Georg's sisters, Elisabeth begins to believe that there's more to her cousin's fits and visions than others claim. In Between Worlds 2: The Distance, Juliana and Elisabeth find that empathy to understand those they misunderstand the most needs more courage than they believe they have. The interior of this book is printed in 19-point, bold, sans serif font and follows the guidelines of the American Council of the Blind.

Notă biografică

Lori Wolf-Heffner is the author of the young adult series Between Worlds and the sweet romance series Love on Belmont. Inspired by her great-grandmother's story, Lori wrote and published Between Worlds 1: The Move in 2018. In this series, girls strive to grow up according to their dreams. Whether Juliana today is still trying to discover her life's goals or Elisabeth in 1920 dreams of fulfilling her community's expectations of her, it's up to them to decide what paths they want to follow. In 2020, Lori wanted to branch out into a series for adults that would still have connections to her favourite neighbourhood and even to Between Worlds. Books and tea went well together, but she knew that basing a series in a real but very small location like Belmont Village came with a high level of responsibility: readers might assume that what Lori wrote about had actually happened in real life. She approached the owner of All Things Tea, the real tea shop in Belmont Village, to ensure she could create a fictional tea shop in a romance series. She was given the green light, and Love on Belmont was born.Lori was an inaugural member of the Canadian National Tap Team, wrote and submitted a Star Trek novel in her teens (it was rejected-she needed an agent), and spent one day twice in Luxembourg and 15 minutes once in Switzerland. She can also do cartwheels.
