Recenzii
Brighton is the f***ing bomb! I loved it! ... Helluva Boston crime novel. Helluva novel, period. If you liked The Departed, you'll like this
I have enjoyed all of Michael Harvey's books, but his latest, Brighton, is his best. I couldn't stop reading
Edgy, and delivered at a cracking pace
A powerful new voice in crime writing
A superb crime thriller with all the hallmarks of high-end literary fiction . This mighty thriller will exhaust you and fool you, astonish you and hold you in its clutches. You may wish you could close your eyes, but they'll be stuck wide open
Michael Harvey has studied the masters and put his own unique touch on the crime novel. A major new voice
Gritty and witty . A real winner
A very good crime thriller ... both unexpected and extremely clever
The dialogue is snappy and crisp and the characters pop off the page
Harvey's a graceful writer, his characters are sharply defined and his plots never lead you quite where you thought they would
Brighton is a masterpiece of crime fiction, filled with fascinating characters and sparkling dialogue and visceral atmosphere and riveting tension, plus no shortage of terrific twists
One of the best
Remarkable . an epic story of loyalty and betrayal, poverty and piety, which twists and turns with jaw-dropping frequency. While the mechanics of the thriller very much dominate, Harvey combines them with the perspective and detail of an autobiography ... It's a difficult tightrope to walk but Harvey doesn't put a foot wrong. The result is an unusual novel that never relinquishes its grip. It has "special" written all over it
Absorbing . Brighton follows the not infrequent formula of the past haunting the present, but Harvey's atmospheric capture of the community and excellent characters lift it well above the norm
Tough, gritty and unflinching, this is a powerful thriller
A grim, dark, depressing story of mistrust, mistakes and betrayal. Great stuff ****
Michael Harvey's gritty descriptions and his intimate knowledge of his setting make his latest offering a sure-fire hit with fans of his previous thrillers and those new to his work

Kevin Pearce—baseball star, honor student—was fifteen when he left Brighton in the back of a cab. He and his buddy Bobby Scales had just committed heinous violence for what they thought were the best of reasons. Kevin didn’t want a pass, but he was getting it anyway....
Twenty-six years later, Kevin is a Pulitzer Prize—winning journalist for the Boston Globe. He’s never been back to his old block, having avoided his family and, especially, Bobby Scales. Then he learns his old friend is the prime suspect in a string of local murders. Suddenly, Kevin’s headed home—to protect a friend and the secret they share. To report this story to the end and protect those he loves, he must face not only an elusive, slippery killer, but also his own corrupted conscience.
