Case Studies in Couple and Family Therapy: Through the Lens of Early Career Professionals
Editat de Connie Cornwell, Sarah Woodsen Limba Engleză Paperback – 18 oct 2019
The book brings together chapters from trainee therapists alongside expert commentary from the editors who have extensive experience in supervising new therapists. Covering a range of self-of-the-therapist issues, these case studies navigate the complexities of presenting problems, multiple systems involvement, the complication of past traumas, and working in a medical environment, all of which beginning therapists are often unprepared to face. The editors provide introductions to each case study, as well as clinical suggestions and topics for discussion in supervision.
Foregrounding the issues and challenges of the therapist-in-training, Case Studies in Couple and Family Therapy is a valuable resource to developing couple and family therapists, as well as supervisors and educators in the field.

Recenzii
"This book is practical and down-to-earth. There are sections on supervision to introduce the chapters written by the beginning therapists, and questions for discussion at the end of each section. The detailed and open way that therapist experiences are described will be of tremendous help and support for anyone practicing marriage and family therapy, particularly for beginning therapists." – Linda G. Bell, PhD, professor emerita of psychology and family therapy, University of Houston, Clear Lake."Case Studies is a must-read for supervisors and therapists. The stories shared in this text remind the reader of the vulnerability, growth, and hope that is required when learning to be a therapist. It demonstrates the power that good supervision and self-reflection can have on therapists and their clients. I will be using this book in my courses." – Jacob B. Priest, PhD, LMFT, assistant professor, Couple and Family Therapy Program, The University of Iowa
"While most case books emphasize ‘steps’ that can appear deceptively simple,Case Studies in Couple and Family Therapy provides an honest and humbling look at the emotional rollercoaster – and magic – we call family therapy training. Written for new therapists and supervisors, this collection demystifies the very personal and vulnerable process of becoming a therapist. It is what has been missing in the clinical training literature." – Carmen Knudson-Martin, PhD, professor, Marriage, Couple, and Family Therapy, Lewis & Clark College, Portland and coauthor, Sociocuturally Attuned Family Therapy: Guidelines for Equitable Theory and Practice.
