Recenzii

Miss Rawson writes extremely well, and her wide learning and intelligent and sure judgement are everywhere apparent. She is thoroughly at home with her subject and never fails to be interesting and stimulating. Miss Rawson has given us a totally reliable and consistently intelligent and perceptive account of Cicero which is sympathetic without being uncritical.
Those who read Rawson's account will understand Cicero better, and that alone is justification enough for welcoming this humane and understanding book.
Rawson's book is well written, comprehensive, intelligent and sane. It covers more territory with a broader perspective than other biographies available in English. Particularly useful are her chapters on Cicero's political theory and philosophical works.
