Recenzii

One aspect of being a media specialist that most of us will admit that we could use help with is collaboration. This book explains the process' history, benefits, variations, and constraints. Buzzeo devised a template for collaborative activities, which was used in the 17 fully developed collaborative units that follow, each of which was written by a practicing school librarian. The units include an overview, a time frame, and content area standards for the state in which it was written; Information Power Information Literacy Standards; and a cooperative teaching plan delineating the responsibilities of the school library media specialist and the teacher. Also provided are a list of resources, both print and electronic; the product or culminating activity; an assessment overview; handouts; and rubrics. It's easier to pique teachers' interest in the collaborative process, and for them to understand it, if you have a model to show them. Part of what makes this book so useful is that it not only provides such a model, but also offers great ideas for units to hook teachers. This volume is a treasure: having read it, I now have several new units that I'm excited to share with my teachers. Bibliographies. Highly Recommended.
