Community and In-Home Behavioral Health Treatment

Autor Lynne Rice Westbrook
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 2 iun 2014
Learn how you can cut down on rapport-building time, make your services accessible to more people, and put your consumers at ease during treatment by offering in-home and natural community-based behavioral health services. This book examines the impact that the environment can have on the comfort level, perception, ability to connect, and general mindset of consumers during treatment. Home and natural community-based services have the potential to help adults, youth, and children live in their own homes and natural communities with specific supports in place that can address their behavioral health needs. Lynne Rice Westbrook examines these treatment settings from the most restrictive to the least restrictive, and demonstrates how such services can be implemented to bring coverage to remote, rural, and underserved areas. Providing services in the consumer’s community allows children, youth, adults, and families to receive treatment they may not be able to access otherwise, and to stay together in their own community. This book provides a detailed map of the benefits, challenges and proposed solutions, and the steps professionals need to take in order to help change the tapestry of behavioral health provision one home, one healing at a time.

Recenzii

"If you are considering doing IHT, this is a book you need to read. If you are considering taking IHT as a patient this is a book you need to read."   Diana Soeiro, metapsychology.mentalhelp.net
"Community and In-Home Behavioral Health Treatment explains a broad range of treatment options. It is a helpful reference not only for students and providers, but also families and individuals affected by mental illness. Westbrook’s commitment to community-based counseling and her advice born of experience are commendable." Mary Giliberti, JD, Executive Director, NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness)
"As a behavioral health registered nurse in New Mexico, I appreciate Westbrook’s understanding that many behavioral health interventions begin with providers asking to step into another’s environment. Her insight of folk medicine practices, in particular, and its timeless relevance to Native and Mexican-American cultures will establish this text as a classic reference."– Marianne A. Broyles, BA, MA, RN, BSN
"Lynne Westbrook answers critical questions about the importance of the treatment environment in the field of behavioral health. I particularly appreciate Westbrook’s description of how community and in-home services work for consumers from different cultural backgrounds and the importance of having culturally literate providers serving these communities. This is a must-read for any clinician looking to not only meet the consumer at their level of need but to meet them in the most appropriate environment."Pierluigi Mancini, PhD, CEO, CETPA, Inc.; President, National Latino Behavioral Health Association
