Notă biografică
Howard J. Wiarda is Professor of Political Science and the Leonard J. Horwitz Professor of Latin American and Iberian Studies at the University of Massachusetts/Amherst. He is also Senior Associate at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington, DC. He is the author of numerous books, among them Politics in Iberia: The Political Systems of Spain and Portugal, An Introduction to Comparative Politics, Latin American Politics and Development, New Directions in Comparative Politics, American Foreign Policy, Corporatism and Development: The Portuguese Experiment, Democracy and Its Discontents, and Corporatism and National Development in Latin America.
Descriere
Corporatism is the third great ideolgy of modern social and political organization and it is one of the main organizing concepts used in comparative political analysis. This study traces corporatism in history, analyzes its modern practice and shows the rise of corporatism in the US.
