Roop is torn between pleasing his hard-working immigrant parents and living the less traditional life of a typical Canadian college student.

Already avoiding a marriage his mother is trying to arrange for him to a perfectly lovely Indian girl named Neetu, Roop learns that an old friend of his father's has arrived in the country with his daughter, who recently enrolled at his school.

Roop is intrigued. If he must agree to an arranged marriage to keep the peace, might the newcomer be a better match for him than his mother's initial choice, whom he barely knows? How can he meet and get to know her without Neetu's family finding out? Perhaps a new friend he meets on campus, Preet, can help him untangle his complicated personal life.
