DCE - The OSF Distributed Computing Environment, Client/Server Model and Beyond: International DCE Workshop, Karlsruhe, Germany, October 7-8, 1993. Proceedings: Lecture Notes in Computer Science, cartea 731

Editat de Alexander Schill
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 21 sep 1993
Client/server applications are of increasing importance inindustry; they are a significant first step towards a globaldistributed processing model. A very recent response to thistrend is the Distributed Computing Environment (DCE) of theOpen Software Foundation (OSF), the emerging new industrystandard for distributed processing. The papers in thisvolume discuss the client/server approach based on DCE,illustrating and analyzing the functionality of importantDCE components and applications. A number of contributionsalso focus on new models beyond traditional client/serverprocessing and beyond DCE.The papers in this volume were presented at theInternational Workshop on the OSF Distributed ComputingEnvironment, held in Karlsruhe, Germany, October 7-8, 1993.Following an introductory chapter, the contributions aregrouped into parts on DCE analysis and comparison, application support, methods and tools, RPC extensions, andobject-based systems.
