Dead Reckoning

en Limba Engleză Paperback
Civilization is descending into chaos: A deadly plague engineered by terrorists, international wars, and mankind's innate depravity are about to take the world to the brink. Those are the last things Matt Anderssen, a scientist stationed at a Top Secret missile test site on a remote Pacific island, knew before all contact with the outside world suddenly stopped. Stranded on the idyllic tropical island that was his home and cut off from his wife and children by five thousand miles of ocean, Matt elicits the help of two loyal friends. Together, they defy the law and set out across the Pacific Ocean to reunite with their loved ones-if they're still alive, if anyone is still alive. High seas, pirates, storms, and terrible luck will test them physically, and hopelessness, anger, and self-doubt will test them emotionally. But against all odds and with the help of a woman they rescue along the way, they will make it to the mainland-and what they find there will be their ultimate test. *Second Edition

Notă biografică

Su García was born in Nottingham, England in 1948 and spent her early years dreaming of a career in the theatre, following in the footsteps of her late grandfather, Harry Cassidy, whose contemporaries in Variety included such famous names as Stan Laurel, Charlie Chaplin and Vesta Tilley. One of the author's first professional childhood appearances was as young Estelle in the Nottingham Playhouse production of Charles Dickens, GREAT EXPECTATIONS, under the direction of John Neville and starring a young Donald Sutherland as Abel Magwitch. Leaving school at sixteen, she joined the Sadlers Wells Opera Company in London and toured the UK appearing in such operas as Tosca, La Traviata and The Bartered Bride before leaving the stage for a career in aviation. Her passion for sailing became a lifestyle when, in her fifties, she retired and became a live-aboard sailor covering over 50,000 nautical miles and crossing the Atlantic Ocean four times with her husband, David, on their private yacht. During the long hours at sea Su wrote professional articles for the sailing press and regular blogs for family and friends back home, then, with a backlog of personal experiences to draw on, she turned her hand to writing fiction. 'DEAD RECKONING' is her first novel and has received many plaudits from male and female readers across the world. Her second novel, RUM PUNCH was published in December 2015. Su continues to sail the Mediterranean from her summer home in Menorca and uses her wealth of experiences to weave intricate plots for her many and varied characters.
