Notă biografică
Adalbert Stifter wurde am 23. Oktober 1805 Oberplan im Böhmerwald geboren. Von 1826 bis 1830 studierte er in Wien zuerst Jura, dann Mathematik, Naturwissenschaften und Geschichte. Nach dem Studium arbeitete er als Hauslehrer in Wiener Adelshäusern, unter anderem bei Fürst Metternich. 1837 heiratete er Amalie Mohaupt. Er pflegte Bekanntschaften zu Franz Grillparzer und Nikolaus Lenau. 1848 siedelte er nach Linz um, wo er ab 1850 Schulrat und Inspektor der oberösterreichischen Volksschulen und 1865 Hofrat wurde. Adalbert Stifter starb am 28. Januar 1868 in Linz an der Donau.
