Megan Alrutz is Assistant Professor of Applied Theatre and Community Engagement at The University of Texas, Austin.

This book argues that theatre artists must re-imagine how and why they facilitate performance practices with young people. Rapid globalization and advances in media and technology continue to change the ways that youths engage with and understand the world around them, and these shifts require applied theatre artists to develop and engage with new performance theories and practices, which actually reflect the lives and experiences of the youth today.
Megan Alrutz offers the first comprehensive examination of digital storytelling as an applied theatre practice for young people. Drawing on pedagogical, aesthetic, and theoretical threads of both digital storytelling and applied theatre, this book presents scholars and teaching artists with innovative approaches to devising, performing, and disseminating digital stories with youth.
