Do you want the practical advice, facts, myths, socio-economic impact and how to stay healthy and safe without panicking? If yes, then keep reading... The disease caused by the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), arrived on the world stage beginning in November 2019. The disease gained momentum through December and into early 2020, and now the world has gradually become aware that there is a significant outbreak of a highly infectious novel respiratory immunosuppressive illness caused by a coronavirus that is closely related to genetically similar coronaviruses responsible for other recent outbreaks (SARS, MERS). One emerging medical term for this illness is Novel Coronavirus-Infected Pneumonia (NCIP), which is one aspect of the disease also known as COVID-19. The virus and the disease are so new that the names and terms are still being developed. For ease of reading, in most instances, we will refer to the disease and the virus as either the novel coronavirus or COVID-19. But be aware that the official designation of the virus (not the disease) is SARS-CoV-2.
The novel coronavirus may become the most serious infectious disease epidemic in our lifetimes - time will tell, and as of February 2020 we are still in the early days of this outbreak. This new virus was first detected in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, Peoples Republic of China, after initial animal-to-human transmission likely occurred sometime during October, 2019. You will find some of the tips on how to avoid getting infected with coronavirus and whats the global effect of the coronavirus in the society and the economy of the countries around the world.

Coronaviruses are viruses that infect humans and other mammals. They can affect the gut but they usually cause the severe acute respiratory syndrome, pneumonia, and common cold. The first case of a coronavirus was in 1937 from the infected bronchitis of a bird. Up to 30 percent of common colds are caused by these viruses. The first case of human coronaviruses was from the noses of patients with the common cold in the 1960s. It is now known that OC43 and 229E are the two human coronaviruses responsible for a large proportion of common colds. The crown-like projections on their surfaces gave rise to their name. In Latin, the word 'corona' means 'crown' or 'halo'. The winter months and the early spring are the common periods when this infection occurs among humans. A person can fall ill to a coronavirus-caused cold.
