Dynamic Modelling of Ground Antennas: Berichte aus der Mechanik

Autor Laurent Breyer
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 26 iun 2012
In this thesis three simulation models of a GALILEO ground antenna are developed. The model range starts with a simple coupled two-mass oscillator system, goes further to a linear flexible model for small antenna deformations and finally ends at a hybrid multi-body model with full dynamic support and including the non-linear gyroscopic effects. Two flexible antenna drive train models are introduced. The first one uses finite elements and is coupled with the linear flexible antenna model. The second model simulates large dynamic antenna movements and is connected to the hybrid multi-body model. Both drive train models use many degrees of freedom to emphasize their flexible nature. The validation of the simulation models is a major part of this work. With the help of the experimental modal analysis and the sine sweep testing the dynamic properties of the GALILEO antenna are measured. The test data are used to validate the simulation models. The first chapter starts with a short introduction followed by the motivation of the project. Subsequently, the characteristics and specifications of the GALILEO ground antenna are highlighted. The second chapter deals with the theoretical background of the analytical and experimental modal analysis. The used finite elements are briefly discussed. In the third chapter the flexible models of the main antenna components (pedestal, yoke, reflector etc.) are validated with the experimental modal analysis. For this purpose two models for every component were created and evaluated. The first one consists of solid elements and the second one uses beam and shell elements. In the fourth chapter two crossed roller bearings and one spherical roller bearing are modelled with finite elements. Moreover, the first flexible drive train model is introduced. The high transmission ratios between the gears are achieved by means of a stiffness matrix. The fifth chapter deals with the three simulation models of the GALILEO antenna. Their properties and the main application fields are discussed. For the hybrid multi-body model a model reduction with the Craig-Bampton method is performed. Subsequently, this model is connected to the second drive train model in SIMULINK.In the sixth chapter the sine sweep analysis and the measurement set up are discussed. Furthermore, the measurement and simulation results of the GALILEO antenna are compared. The quality of the model and its informative value are assessed. At the end of this chapter wind simulations with the controlled hybrid multi-body model are introduced. In the last chapter optimisation proposals for the GALILEO antenna are presented. Moreover, a summary of the project and an outlook for further steps are given.
