Autor Edgar Allan Poe Introducere de James Russell Lowell Memorii de N. P. Willis
en Limba Engleză Paperback
Edgar Allan Poe: His Life and Works is a five volume series of books which highlights the story of Mr.Poe's life and retells the classic stories we have grown to love by one of one of America's greatest Authors, Edgar Allan Poe. Rich with details, feelings, and soul; these stories outline a time that we could never imagine ourselves living in without the wit and wisdom of our friends, Edgar Allan Poe and this great collection of his works. "Here is one of the finest scholars, one of the most original men of genius, and one of the most industrious of the literary profession of our country, whose temporary suspension of labor, from bodily illness, drops him immediately to a level with the common objects of public charity. There is no intermediate stopping-place, no respectful shelter, where, with the delicacy due to genius and culture, he might secure aid, till, with returning health, he would resume his labors, and his unmortified sense of independence." N.P. Willis

Notă biografică

Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849) was one of the great American Romantic writers and a pioneer of the short story genre. Poe is best known for his poetry and short stories, particularly his tales of mystery and the macabre, and is considered the inventor of the detective fiction genre and one of the main contributors to the emerging genre of science fiction.
Harry Clarke (1889-1931) was an Irish book illustrator and leading figure in the Arts and Crafts Movement, influenced by both Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles. His illustration work can be found in great literary classics, such as Goethe's Faust and Charles Perrault's Fairy Tales. Dr Brook Haley holds degrees in English and French literature from the Louisiana State University and received a PhD in comparative literature from the University of California, Irvine. His interest in Poe's life and works began with a childhood visit to the Poe Museum in Richmond, Virginia and focuses on Poe's afterlife in French Symbolism. He is currently a lecturer in the School of Humanities at UC Irvine.
